This photo was taken at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in Downey Calif. back in, I think, 1988 for their Centennial 1888-1988 year book.

Back in 1983 I was working under my truck, which was a 4-wheel drive so it sat high enoughso I could lay underneath it without a jack, when it ran me over. The u-joint on my drive shaft went out so I had to fix it.

It had happened a couple of times before so I aways carried the tools and a spare u-joint with me. The bad thing about it, the truck was on a slite incline and having one to many drinks I wasn't thinking. I crawled under and took the bolts out but it didn't come off like before so I gave it a big crack and that's where everything went south. The shaft broke loose and the truck started rolling. I tried to get out from underneath but didn't move quick enough.

I had a stablizer bar on the back axle which grabed the back of my head and trying to get out from underneath, the back tire ran me over from the left shoulder down to the right leg. The tire fractured the shoulder but the bar broke the neck that left me with a C-4 spinal injury.

Since then I do what I can, how I can with everything in life but I keep kickin it.
